Day One: Christchurch On arrival in Christchurch have the afternoon to explore the beautiful 'Garden City'. Highlights include; the International Antarctic Centre, the historic Arts Centre, award winning Art Gallery, Cathedral and gardens.
Day Two: Christchurch to Greymouth to Franz Josef From Christchurch the Transalpine train to Greymouth, this train journey rates as one of the top 5 train trips in the world! Highly recommended a tour of the Montheiths Brewery, world famous on the West Coast, free tasting included! From Greymouth head south to either Franz Josef or Fox townships. These are both great bases from which to explore the glaciers. Highlights include; Heli-hiking, glacier flights, or a good old fashioned walk up the glaciers!
Day Three: Franz Josef to Wanaka From the glaciers travel south along the west coast to Wanaka.
Day Four: Wanaka to Queenstown From Wanaka Travel in-land to the 'Adventure Capital of New Zealand'. There is outstanding variety of activities to do in Queenstown.
Day Five: Queenstown Take in more of the adventures on offer in Queenstown.
Day Six: Queenstown to Milford Sound to Queenstown From Queenstown head to the Milford Sound for a guided tour exploring this fascinating region. Cruise the length of the fiord taking in the some of most outstanding scenery and offering a unique opportunity to get up close to some of New Zealand native wildlife.
Day Seven: Mt Cook From Queenstown take the scenic drive up through the McKenzie county to Mt Cook. Mount Cook will be the highlight of your day.
Day Eight: Christchurch Continue the journey up through the scenic state highway 74.
Day Nine: Kaikoura A stop at Kaikoura is compulsory. A small rural town that has built its reputation on whale watching, there are also several other great opportunities in Kaikoura. Try swimming with the dolphins, get close to a seal, or simple try some of the local seafood the town is famous for. Highly recommended: Whale watching by boat. Get up close and personal with these majestic creatures.
Day Ten: Wellington On arrival in Picton have a little look around the township before boarding the Interisland Ferry for Wellington. There is plenty to see in the Capital city of New Zealand. Highlights include: Te Papa the museum of NZ, the Botanical Gardens and a tour of parliament.
Day Eleven: Wellington Take in the events in Wellington you may of missed yesterday.
Day Twelve: Wellington to Taupo Highlights include; Huka Falls, wide variety of water activities on the Lake or simply relaxing.
Day Thirteen: Rotorua From Taupo take the 1 hour journey up to Rotorua. Rotorua is a true natural wonder. Here you can experience some of earth natural forces as work, visiting the natural thermal areas, watch the geyers and feel the heat radiating from the mud pools. Highlights include; Agrodome, Whakarewarewa Thermal Area, Rainbow Springs and Skyline Skyrides Gonodola and Luge.
Day Fourteen: Rotorua Take in the events in Rotorua you may of missed yesterday.
Day Fifteen: Auckland Take some time to explore this city, the biggest in New Zealand. Highlights include; SkyCity, Kelly Tarltons Antarctic Experience and Underwater World, Viaduct Harbour and a trip to Waiheke Island if time permits.
Day Sixteen: Auckland Return your rental vehicle and meet your flight for your return home.
