Day one: Auckland - The City of Sails
Upon arrival at Auckland Airport, pick up your rental vehicle. This day is free for you to relax and explore the city area.
Places to visit:
Viaduct Basin. This vibrant waterfront precinct was developed to provide a focus for America's Cup Yacht Race. Great also for nighttime entertainment with it's many cafes and bars.
Sky City. Towering at a height of 328 metersl, this is one of New Zealand's most popular entertainment destinations. With 2 casinos, ten restaurants and bars, and from the Observation level the best view of Auckland City and surrounding areas.
Shopping: Queen Street, Vulcan Lane, High Street, O'Connell Street and Chancery
Day two: Play Gulf Harbour Country Club, Auckland
Gulf Harbour was the venue of the 1999 Golf World Cup. This course was designed by international golf course designer Robert Trent 11. With spectacular views, rolling landscape and traditional values this course is considered to be New Zealand's best. Excellent for players of all skill levels.
Day three: Auckland - Bay of Islands - Paihia
Today take this scenic drive north to Pahia and the Bay of Islands, a drive of approximately 4 hours. Enjoy your afternoon exploring; the beautiful Bay of Islands is known as the first centre of European settlement in New Zealand,and it is rich with historical sites. Maori chief Hone Heke lived and fought here, notably at Ruapekapeka. This area is popular with both visitors and locals alike. Paihia is a popular and attractive holiday town. An early missionary centre, (population aprox 1840) it was the site of New Zealand's first church, made of reeds. It's stone replacement, the Church of St. Paul, is still used today. Cruises around the Bays are available from the wharf and are very popular.
Day four: Golf at Waitangi Golf Course
Enjoy this challenging course, still a great relaxing experience with outstanding views of the bay and surrounding area. The rest of today is free for you to explore or take a cruise.
Day five: Paihia - Auckland
Make you way back to Auckland to return your rental vehicle and meet your return flight (drive to Auckland takes approximately 4 hours).
